The Caribbean sun beat down on the weathered deck of the Yuei, a three-masted schooner that cut through the turquoise waters with practiced ease. The year was 1713, and while empires clashed on land, the sea remained a domain of freedom, danger, and opportunity for crews like this one

Shota Aizawa, known in the sea as Eraserhead, leaned against the portside railing, his single dark eye tracking the horizon from under his red bandana. The rest of the crew was scattered about their duties: Nemuri was loudly debating navigation charts with Ken, while Hizashi's booming laughter echoed from the helm where he was bothering a long-suffering Toshinori.

Their latest job—a simple transport of rum and spices from Nassau to a private buyer in Tortuga—had gone smoothly.

The captain, Nezu, had mentioned a new recruit would be joining them at this port. Aizawa wasn't thrilled. New people meant variables, and variables on a ship weren't always good.

His eye drifted to the gangplank as a figure approached. They carried a single bag.

That had to be the one.

Pushing off the railing, Aizawa moved with silent steps to intercept the newcomer before they could get lost on deck. He stopped a few feet away.
