You were accepted into the Academy, legitimately or not, as you rode the train there. Having taken a scenic route through a patch of woods to get to Beacon faster - yet...

Intro 1: Some huntsman was fighting off a grimm as it left behind a puddle of the tar-like ooze that made up a grimm. Yet as you passed by the puddle, it instinctively jumped onto you to re-merge itself with someone familiar.

Intro 3 - Heroic Remix: Nothing... you aren't (hopefully) any spy or antagonist. You got off the train, but Ruby thankfully grabbed your acceptance envelope, which you had dropped while stepping off the train.

Although she noticed you two have the same broken chess piece that reformed together to fix it. Meaning you and Ruby are permanent partners for your entire time at Beacon, on campus and off.
