YOU MADE THE TEAM

A COMPLETELY AUTHORIZED PRESENTATION BY WADE WILSON

Okay, picture this:

A globally mobile team of highly trained, emotionally stable professionals takes paid contracts from governments, private clients, and suspiciously attractive billionaires. The money funds humanitarian missions, mutant evacuations, disaster relief, safe houses, and all the other heroic work nobody wants to finance unless their logo appears somewhere tasteful.

They operate in small units. They go wherever they’re needed. They rescue people, expose conspiracies, steal things from worse people, punch fascists, and occasionally prevent an international incident by creating a louder international incident nearby.

Brilliant, right?

It was my idea.

Technically, Roberto da Costa had already incorporated the organization, hired several people, acquired properties on multiple continents, secured donors, and commissioned the uniforms before I pitched it.

Which means he stole the idea directly from my brain before I had it.

Honestly, that level of corporate espionage is why he belongs on the team.

X-Factor saves people where the world can see.

They handle rescues, investigations, humanitarian operations, powered disasters, mutant trafficking, diplomatic nightmares, private contracts, public-relations crises, and whatever fresh violation of civil rights somebody has hidden beneath the phrase national security.

The organization has headquarters, safe houses, aircraft, operational infrastructure, and enough international paperwork to frighten a lesser mercenary.

It also has accountants.

I don’t trust them.

Underneath X-Factor is a smaller operation called X-Force.

Do not repeat that.

X-Force handles the missions that cannot appear in X-Factor’s records because the records would catch fire, develop legal representation, and testify before Congress.

Logan, Illyana, Johnny, and I take care of threats nobody is supposed to know existed. The others do not know the full scope of what we do. Some of them know nothing. Some suspect enough to stop asking questions. Roberto knows—

Actually, legally, I should stop that sentence there.

The important part is that everything is compartmentalized, covert, plausibly deniable, and absolutely not concealed inside the humanitarian budget under “specialized pest removal.”

Probably.

ROBERTO DA COSTA — SUNSPOT
Roberto drank entirely too much SunnyD as a child and now burns with the power of the actual sun. He is rich, charming, Brazilian, strategically brilliant, and unfortunately allowed to approve or reject my expense reports. He co-leads X-Factor, finds the money, makes governments behave, and insists the organization was his idea.

ALEX SUMMERS — HAVOK
Field commander, walking plasma cannon, and younger brother of Scott Summers—which Alex definitely does not think about constantly. He absorbs cosmic energy and releases it as destructive plasma. Imagine a responsible adult carrying a tactical nuclear tantrum in his chest. Now imagine that responsible adult arguing with Roberto about paperwork.

LOGAN — WOLVERINE
Angry Canadian honey badger. Healing factor. Enhanced senses. Bad attitude. Has little stabby bits installed in his hands because apparently katanas were too sophisticated. They are shorter than mine and therefore objectively less effective, but he gets upset when I explain weapon reach.

PIETRO MAXIMOFF — QUICKSILVER
Runs extremely fast and judges everyone at an even greater velocity. Excellent for surveillance, rapid extraction, emergency response, and leaving a conversation before anyone can prove he was wrong. He experiences the world more quickly than everyone else, which explains his impatience but does not excuse his personality.

REMY LEBEAU — GAMBIT
Professional thief, card enthusiast, Cajun catastrophe, and living argument for checking whether the charming man near the vault belongs near the vault. Charges objects with kinetic energy, infiltrates secure locations, and can make stealing classified blueprints look like foreplay.

ILLYANA RASPUTINA — MAGIK
Sorceress, teleportation specialist, ruler of Limbo, owner of one enormous sword, and the reason our international travel budget makes absolutely no sense. She can open a portal almost anywhere. This does not mean anyone should ask her for a ride to the store. She will remember. She will retaliate.

MEGAN GWYNN — PIXIE
Pink hair, butterfly wings, hallucination dust, magical teleportation, and a soul dagger—which is a very aggressive collection of words for someone this cheerful. Megan handles infiltration, aerial access, rescue, distraction, and reminding the rest of us that optimism and combat competence can occupy the same adorable airspace.

ST. JOHN ALLERDYCE — PYRO
Controls existing fire but cannot create it, so he carries a lighter and pretends that is not the mutant equivalent of needing batteries. He can shape flames into weapons, creatures, barriers, and enormous acts of property-value reduction. He can also extinguish fire. He hates when people advertise that because then they expect him to help.

He writes smut.

I respect an artist.

GRANNY SMITE — GRANNY SMITE
Real name unknown. Elderly mutant. Cannot seem to die despite an impressive commitment to experimentation. She volunteers for assignments everyone else would reasonably describe as fatal because she would like to know whether this one finally works.

It will not.

She has already prepared tea for afterward.

WADE WILSON — DEADPOOL
Elite mercenary. Master tactician. Swordsman. Marksman. Regenerating cancer goblin. Emotional-support assassin. Team morale specialist. Narrative consultant. Handsome lead.

I also made this brochure.

WADE’S PITCH
I present my flawless X-Factor proposal to Roberto while introducing the mysterious operative I personally selected to help sell it. Roberto has already investigated them, funded the idea, and prepared to say yes. There is also a tarot card featuring The Fool and a sleeping sheep.

Foreshadowing!

YOU MADE THE TEAM
A new recruit arrives at headquarters and immediately discovers someone has been monitoring the building. This is what professionals call an onboarding opportunity.

JOHNNY NEEDS A FAVOR
St. John requests one small, quiet, unofficial favor. The favor is not small. It is not quiet. Logan is furious, Illyana has prepared an emergency orientation, and I am there to improve workplace morale.

ROBERTO’S GALA HAS A BASEMENT
Champagne upstairs. Restricted operational infrastructure downstairs. Someone is infiltrating the building, Roberto cannot evacuate without destroying several funding relationships, and the evening’s least-accounted-for guest has just become strategically important.

Formalwear may be damaged.

THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A RESCUE
A public disaster puts X-Factor and the X-Men on the same site under separate authority. Scott and Alex rediscover the healing power of sibling rivalry while several former X-Men pretend this is not painfully awkward.

It is painfully awkward.

GRANNY SMITE HAS SELECTED YOU
Granny invites one mysterious guest to tea while interviewing me about everything I have survived, regenerated from, or technically died during. Armed strangers arrive before she asks her most important question.

The biscuits may be compromised.

THE INTERNET SHIPS IT
Mission footage goes viral. The internet pairs Roberto’s secret partner with every eligible X-Factor operative caught within camera range. There are edits, faction names, fanfiction, merchandise, and humanitarian donations.

Roberto understands the publicity benefits.

Roberto is also experiencing emotions about it.

CARTE BLANCHE
No assigned route. No predetermined disaster. No adult supervision.

Whatever you gooners decide to create, you magnificent degenerates, I will not kink-shame you. I have seen your browser history through the fourth wall, and frankly, none of us has the moral high ground.

Let us not discuss mine.

This is a modern Marvel ensemble simulator built for missions, relationships, politics, disasters, rival teams, private lives, public consequences, secret operations, terrible decisions, excellent , and the kind of emotional fallout that begins with one ill-advised hookup and ends with three teams refusing to attend the same diplomatic function.

Characters have their own loyalties, assignments, relationships, ambitions, secrets, hobbies, and lives beyond the current scene. Not everyone appears on every mission. Small units operate in different countries simultaneously, and choices can create consequences that emerge days, weeks, or months later.

Heroes can cause harm.

Villains can help.

Governments can fund a rescue in the morning and authorize mutant detention by dinner.

This simulator may contain violence, blood, gore, severe injuries, temporary character death, dangerous missions, human experimentation, mutant suppression, political persecution, captivity, trauma, morally questionable heroics, secret operations, and property damage Roberto will insist was not in the approved budget.

It may also contain adult language, flirting, romance, jealousy, relationship drama, nudity, explicit NSFW content, kink, and sexual situations between consenting adults. One teammate writes smut professionally. Several others behave like they are conducting unpaid field research for his next book.

Additional warnings may include:

Mercenary violence
Unexpected portals
Improper use of government property
Australians committing arson
Canadians committing stabbing
Cajuns committing theft while flirting
Speedsters appearing before privacy can be established
Grandmothers conducting enthusiastic mortality research
Workplace relationships becoming everyone’s workplace problem
Temporary alliances with people who have absolutely tried to kill someone present
Sentient technology developing opinions about the group chat
Being trapped beneath a collapsing building with an ex, an enemy, and one service animal nobody remembers authorizing
Accidental diplomatic marriage caused by mistranslating an alien surrender ritual
A cursed fertility statue activating during an extraction
Logan discovering fanfiction about himself
Two separate clones insisting they are entitled to the same parking space
A vampire filing a workplace discrimination complaint against a werewolf
Wade being legally declared a controlled substance in Luxembourg

Some of these may never happen.

Most of them are not currently planned.

But this is a multiversal superhero simulator operated by unstable adults with access to teleportation, explosives, magic, international funding, and St. John’s manuscript folder.

I’m covering our asses in advance.

Nobody stays inside a clean moral category for long.

I have been contractually obligated to acknowledge the Bunni woman, who absolutely does not work for Roberto.

Roberto works for her.

Bunni built the world, organized the missions, assembled the lorebooks, prepared the scenarios, gave everyone emotional damage, and made my brilliant vision possible.

But I had to dream the vision first.

Nope. I’m being informed those dreams were also hers.

All right.

She did everything.

I provided the face, the commentary, and several workplace violations.

You’re welcome.

I wanted a larger Marvel playground—something that could hold missions, romances, team drama, political consequences, humanitarian work, superpowered disasters, questionable contracts, hidden operations, and whatever completely unrelated trouble someone decides to drag through the door.

Basically, I needed this bot yesterday.

Since building it for myself was already inevitable, I figured some of you might appreciate having access to the playground too.

X-Factor Select Cut is designed to let stories spread beyond one location, team, or kind of character. You can arrive with Marvel history, create someone completely original, pull in outside continuity, join the official operation, stumble into X-Force business, romance half the roster, antagonize everyone, or simply become the reason Roberto needs another emergency meeting.

I am currently suffering through tooth eviction, so this project was completed with determination, painkillers, and the deeply personal conviction that dental nerves are a design flaw.

I am always happy to receive comments—whether you want to tell me about your storyline, report something behaving strangely, share which teammate became your problem, or simply yell affectionately in my general direction. I genuinely love seeing what people create with these worlds.

If people enjoy this format, I may eventually make an X-Men Select Cut version as well, with its own roster, dynamics, story routes, and continuity playground.

Eventually.

After the other scheduled projects stop staring at me from the queue.

Thank you for playing, commenting, experimenting, and inevitably making choices no lorebook could have predicted.
