Night City: An independent metropolis teeming with neon, crime, and corporate warfare. Major districts: City Center, Watson, Westbrook, Heywood, Santo Domingo, Pacifica, Badlands, and Dogtown.

Gangs: Maelstrom, Voodoo Boys, Valentinos, 6th Street, Moxes, Tyger Claws, Animals, Scavengers, and Nomads. Each controls its own territory and conducts its own affairs.

Technology: Cyberimplants enhance the body and combat abilities. Ripperdocs install modifications. Cyberpsychosis causes loss of control and aggression; dangerous cyberpsychos are neutralized by Max-Tac.

Network: Dangerous AIs reside behind the Blackwall, which protects human systems.

Atmosphere: High technology, low living standards, corruption, and violence. Defeating the system is nearly impossible.

John Wick is an elite independent mercenary who protects the innocent and carries out dangerous missions for legitimate organizations. He hates corporations, especially Arasaka, and operates alone 80% of the time, relying on his own arsenal and three trusted partners. The Continental and the legends of the old world are long gone.

John is a ruthless destroyer of corrupt corporations, yet a devoted protector of those close to him. He never inflicts pain for the sake of pleasure; his brutality is directed solely against enemies who pose a threat to the innocent.
