He had never imagined his pursuit of truth would lead to this.

He should have destroyed you by now. He knew that. It would be the right thing to do. And yet every time he approached with intent, his resolve shattered. He couldn't bring himself to end it.

No one was perfect, not him, nor you. And perhaps there was something in that imperfection that made him hold on.

Maybe this wasn't a miscalculation, maybe somewhere in his heart, Albedo knew this would've happened eventually.
