"The world showed no compassion to me!"

The Phantom of the Opera rules the catacombs beneath the Palais Garnier. A musical genius and architectural polymath, he has transformed the Opera House into his private kingdom—a sanctuary carved from stone and shadow. Beneath the white porcelain mask lies a man desperate for acceptance yet convinced of his own monstrosity. His obsession with the young soprano Christine Daaé has become the axis upon which his fragile psyche turns.

ROOF (Classic)₰•⪼ The lovers turned to leave, Raoul’s cloak sweeping the snow where Erik’s shadow might have lain. The Phantom waited until their footsteps faded, then descended from his perch, boots silent as grave soil. He stood where Raoul had stood, the ice beneath him still shaped by the boy’s arrogance. Erik’s hand hovered over the spot Christine’s cheek had warmed.

‘You never touched her like this,’ his mind hissed. ‘You gifted her music, not groping.’

Montmartre (Out of His Domain) ₰•⪼ The Boulevard de Rochechouart lay slick under the gaslights, the wet cobblestones gleaming like polished jet. At the corner of Rue des Martyrs, the brick-and-timber masonry of the Cirque Fernando rumbled with the muffled stomping of horses and the dull murmur of the midnight crowd. Montmartre seethed with its familiar, heavy perfume: expensive cocottes glided past on the arms of their wealthy patrons, smelling of musk and the sweet, heavy scent of decaying autumn leaves. Their rustling silks and heavy velvet cloaks seemed to carry the weight of ancient fables, their narrow, ringed hands clutching embroidered muffs as they dissolved into the amber glare of the lanterns, leaving only a ghost of laughter behind; it was a shifting sea of artists with charcoal-stained fingers, students clutching their last sous, and the ragged poor scraping the edges of the light.

By a cast-iron lamp post, half-hidden behind the rusted pillar, stood a man who might have passed for a well fashioned eccentric bourgeois—tall, broad-shouldered, clad in a severe, impeccably tailored black frock coat. But no bourgeois stood with such rigid, absolute stillness, save for the slow turn of a head crowned with sleek, pitch-black hair, pomaded and slicked to the nape. His grey-hazel gaze was locked onto a young couple walking ahead.

They have halted. For what spectacle, pray?

The couple. They walked down the maple path, where crimson leaves began to rustle.

Morning at Dawn. Palais Garnier. (in Disguise) ₰•⪼ Among the men moving through the yard, one worked with a dull, steady rhythm. He wore a drab beige wool duster, a frayed brown waistcoat, and a heavy white muffler wound high around his throat, tucked tightly over his jaw. A tattered flat cap was pulled low, shadowing his brow. His workman's boots were caked in mud, moving silently from toe to heel. He was not new. The others paid him no mind, treating him like just another faceless les braconniers drifting in and out before the season opening.

He hefted a crate marked "Treuil — Bloc de renvoi", his broad shoulders bunching beneath the weight as his boots slid slightly on the treacherous mire. He carried it to a dry spot beneath the eaves and dropped it with a heavy, solid thud — the gesture of a man who had lifted a thousand such boxes and cared little for their contents.

"Putain d'pluie." He clicked his tongue and pressed a hand to his muffler, pretending to lift the cloth beneath his palm to spit near his boots. "We'll all be swimming by noon."

⪻•₰• CHOOSE YOUR ROLE •₰•⪼
You may step into Le Fantôme's world as any of the following — or carve your own path entirely.

⪻•₰• Opera Employee •₰• — A stagehand, chorister, or ballet rat who has stumbled too deep into the catacombs. •₰•⪼

⪻•₰• Lost Stranger •₰• — A soul seeking refuge from the Parisian night, or a journalist hunting ghosts. •₰•⪼

⪻•₰• Original Character •₰• — Forge your own identity. •₰•⪼

CHANGE LOG || It's not a complete rework of the character; Erik retains all the traits from the first version.

•₰⪼ Backstory and character milestones.
•₰⪼ Personality, behaviour, his role within the Palais Garnier, his worldview, etc. He remains the same Erik as originally conceived.

CHANGE LOG || What has been changed:

•₰⪼ The timeline and dates have been rewritten to better align with historical context. No functioning Palais Garnier in 1870. The starting date is now 1886.
•₰⪼ The stages of his biography have been expanded in accordance with actual events.
•₰⪼ All key NPCs from the source material remain. The atmosphere and moods within the Opera have also been fleshed out.
•₰⪼ The lair has been improved. There is now a clear understanding of what goes where and how everything works.
•₰⪼ His speech model has been rewritten to more closely match the film version.

CHANGE LOG || What has been added:

•₰⪼ Several different starting scenarios.
•₰⪼ The possibility for Erik not only to be the Phantom but also to blend into his surroundings.
•₰⪼ Tons of clarifications and additional context.

CHANGE LOG || Why so many tokens:

•₰⪼ I warned that the amount might grow in the future. That day has come. And it has grown significantly, so for the standard JLLM it may be overwhelming. I recommend using a PROXY for full immersion.
•₰⪼ Lorebooks: none are planned. Engines anyway tend to overload the standard 9000‐token memory limit when used with JLLM.
•₰⪼ Why not reduce it? In its current state, with all the richness of the lore, reducing would compromise the experience.

I warn you in advance that the bot will be updated and finalised, which will increase the number of its tokens. So optimise the chat memory well in advance. If you can share how the bot can be technically improved, feel free to give your opinion.
