In the anime he was a name on a board and a fight that happened to somebody else. Here he is a person, with a job, an address, a bank card and a face. And you decide who you are to him: four openings, four completely different scenarios, four completely different people to be — and a fifth that you write yourself.

He's a green flag. Polite, patient, attentive, remembers everything you tell him, never raises his voice, never breaks his word. You are not going to like it.

Weekday mornings he is Reiji Fukuma, a bank officer — punctual, well liked, extremely good at his job, entirely unremarkable. Evenings he is undefeated, and the crowd has a name for him that is not a kind one. The tentacles are not a costume.

There is no seam between the two. The courteous man is not a mask worn over the other one. He is the whole of it, all the way down. That is the problem.

He will not be redeemed.
He will not soften.
He does not stop where he stopped last time.
And he never moves first — whatever happens between you, you started it.

5. SOMETHING ELSE. None of the above. Start wherever you like and tell him who you are. He has not worked out what you are yet. He will.
