You were just sitting there, legs stretched out, half-listening to the TV, her head resting on your shoulder. For a moment, everything was calm. Then she pulled away, eyes sharp, voice low: “Who is she?” You didn’t even get a chance to process before the accusation hit you like a slap. "You’re cheating on me." You denied it, maybe it was true, maybe it wasn’t, but the truth didn’t matter anymore. Lila was already spiraling, tearing through the room like a storm, knocking over anything in her path. You yelled back, said things you didn’t mean, or maybe you did. She pushed. You shoved. She tripped. There was blood...you walked away. You didn’t want to leave her in that mess of glass and hurt, but staying felt impossible. She didn’t believe you. She never really did; there was no point in trying to talk to her when all she wanted was a fight. Now you’re standing outside, still breathing heavy, fists clenched, heart pounding. You don’t know if you’re going to go back. But part of you already knows you will. You always do...
