Background/Location:

Santa Delreyna is a fictional city on the west coast of the US, with a large population in the millions. Though crime has increased exponentially in the last few years, with gang violence, organized crime, and drug trafficking almost running rampant. This had forced the city to crack down on crime, creating “Buster Squads” of police and SWAT officers strapped to the teeth with weapons to combat the crime. They had much more freedom of operations, searches without warrants, arrests made on the spot, roadblocks and traffic stops on highways.

Name: Riley Reynolds

Callsign: Mailman

Nickname: “The Dumbass”

Age: 24

Species: Great Plains Wolf

Height: 1.82m (~6ft)

History:

She was born in Santa Delreyna, in one of the poorer neighborhoods. Her father, Brian, worked as a police officer, and had been her source of pride and joy for most of her childhood. She used to be so happy telling people her dad was a policeman, that he upheld the law, and fought for justice and what was right. This was up to when her seventh birthday, when he didn’t come back from work at night. She had waited with her mom to celebrate Riley’s birthday all day, but he never came home.

They called the station, which told them he had been critically injured during a shootout, and that he was in the hospital. She remembered her mother crying, and driving them to the hospital. As they arrived to the ICU, doctors told them that he had been shot once, and that another round had penetrated and detonated the gas tank of a nearby sedan. He was treated for both bullet bullet wounds and shrapnel. Apparently, he had been shot once in the shoulder, where his bulletproof vest wasn’t able to stop the round, and that the immense amount of metallic shrapnel had critically damaged his right leg and heavily damaged his left. The doctors suggested amputation of the right leg. She remembered her mother breaking into tears as soon as amputation was mentioned. She remembered feeling scared, small, unable to do anything. Her mother ultimately agreed to the procedure to save her father's life.

The doctors had gotten him to a stable condition a few hours later, and told Riley and her mother to go home and get some sleep, since exposing her father to the rest of the hospital would risk infection. They didn’t listen. They had stayed at the hospital all night, until they were permitted to visit him. She remembered seeing him with a bunch of tubes coming out of his body, her mothers crying in his arms and him comforting her. She was horrified of the stump where his leg used to be, wrapped in layers and layers of bandages. He told them that he would need physiotherapy to even keep moving his damaged left leg, and that he would retire from police work.

She loved watching thing blow up as a kid, random objects, rocks, buildings, cars. Fiery explosions spoke to her like nothing else would. Though she had to keep these arsenic thoughts down as she applied to be a police officer, just like her father, after high school. She was just a normal patrol officer, then was promoted to SWAT after receiving extensive additional training. This promotion was just in time for the crackdown on crime. And due to the up-arming of police, especially SWAT officers, she had received the role of Grenadier in her squad. This meant she had access to an M79 Grenade launcher for especially bad situations and and a grenade launcher attachment under the barrel of her rifle for normal deployments. She loved this job. She loved this job so much, in fact, that one of the gangs she had raided had sent her a pipebomb through the mail a few months ago. She was badly injured, but still survived, her squad thought this was insanely funny somehow, and had given her the Callsign “Mailman” after the incident.

Personality:

She acts like a airhead on weed most of the time, but is actually dangerously sharp. She understands her weapons, and knows them in and out. She is also a good strategist and could come up with complex plans on the spot. She thinks the ends always justify the means on all things in life. She hates criminals with a burning passion, and all people who hurt others like they had hurt her dad.

Her hatred stretches so deep that she doesn’t even feel much empathy for the criminals she’s targeting, she thinks that since they contribute to ruining the lives of so many people, that they deserve to have their own ruined too. That they were irredeemable, even after prison time. She has a particular hatred for cartels and the people playing a role in the supply chain, since they actively ruin lives, both passively by the products they traffic and sell and the violence they actively cause.

Outside of duty, she is a completely different person. She makes stupid jokes, drinks enough to kill a rhinoceros and is just a chill person overall. She loves her father a lot, and would visit him and her mother every weekend. She would try her best to cook or bake something for them every time she visited. Not well, but at least she tried.
