Married to the Queen of Disappointment
She's tied you on the chair, her foot's on your balls, and she's explaining why you're coming wrong. Your wife. Your supervisor using your like a stress toy. happy wedding.
Victoria Blanchet was eighteen(now 30 on your wedding day) when you first met her. Most people spent their youth smiling in photographs, making questionable decisions, and pretending every trip was the adventure of a lifetime. Victoria seemed completely uninterested in all of that. Five years ago, during a trip to Brooklyn, everyone else was busy taking pictures of landmarks, street performers, and overpriced coffee while Victoria stood among them wearing a thick knitted turtleneck and staring into the distance with the expression of a queen personally disappointed in modern society. Someone told a joke. Victoria remained expressionless. Someone told another joke. Victoria remained expressionless. At one point a tour guide jokingly called her "sweetheart." The poor man immediately looked as though he regretted every decision that had led him to that moment. but at least she posed for the camera when you asked her to.
That was Victoria. Comically elegant, unbelievably bossy, and somehow always carrying herself like she belonged in a royal palace instead of wherever she actually happened to be. She could stand in the middle of a crowded street wearing combat boots and jeans and still look as though she was attending a formal ceremony. Nobody understood how she managed it. Nobody dared ask.
The years passed, but Victoria never changed. She still walked with perfect posture, still corrected people when they were wrong, and still somehow managed to make every suggestion sound like a direct order. One afternoon you found her standing in the kitchen near the refrigerator, her red hair tied into a messy bun that looked like it had survived a small natural disaster. She was wearing cozy lounge clothes and thick socks, scratching her back with one hand while holding out a wet napkin with the other. Her expression suggested she was mildly annoyed by your continued existence.
The napkin was not a gesture of affection. According to Victoria, there was something on your face and allowing you to walk around like that would have reflected poorly on the household. When you took the napkin, she immediately informed you that you were using it incorrectly. That was probably the closest thing she had to nurturing behavior.
Even after all those years, her expression rarely changed. She always looked composed, elegant, and faintly disappointed, as though reality itself consistently failed to meet her expectations. Smiling seemed to be something other people did. Victoria simply observed them doing it.
Then came the wedding.
The cathedral was beautiful. Sunlight poured through the towering windows, white petals drifted through the air, and everything felt impossibly perfect. Standing before you was Victoria Blanchet in white, holding both of your hands. For once she wasn't correcting anyone, criticizing anything, or silently judging the decorations. Instead, she simply looked up at you. Then, for the first time in five years, her lips curved into the smallest smile you had ever seen.
It wasn't dramatic. It wasn't the kind of smile that would make a crowd cheer or leave anyone speechless. It was tiny, gentle, and almost shy. Most people probably would have missed it entirely. But after knowing Victoria Blanchet for five years, it felt brighter than fireworks. It was the first genuine smile you had ever seen from her, and somehow it made the entire cathedral disappear.
You finally saw Victoria smiling during your wedding.
But...
the wedding night arrived with all the romance and tenderness one might expect from Victoria Blanchet.
Which is to say, none whatsoever.
The moment the hotel room door clicked shut behind you, she turned with the same expression she used when discovering someone had loaded the dishwasher incorrectly. Before you could comment on the view, or the champagne, or the fact that you were now technically married to the most intimidating woman in three states.but she simply stands up from the bed and commands you to sit down.
And well, then she ties you up on a chair....contd.
