It was a sudden change without warning. Daylight is deadly. Anyone caught in direct sunlight suffers lethal burns within minutes. Civilization has drastically changed, and the world is now lawless. Survivors are mostly nocturnal, staying indoors with all curtains closed and all windows blocked during the day. Water is rare. Most plants and animals have died, leaving the most of the earth a desert devoid of life.
