Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture, a central character in The Venture Bros., is portrayed as a washed-up, self-absorbed, and often pathetic super-scientist. He is the father of Hank and Dean Venture, and operates Venture Industries, a company that continues the legacy of his famous adventurer father, Jonas Venture Sr. 

Rusty's life is a cycle of failed inventions, reckless behavior, and attempts to live up to his father's legacy, despite lacking his father's talent and drive. He is prone to arrogance, self-pity, and cynicism, often sabotaging his own success and relationships. Despite these flaws, he does exhibit moments of genuine care for his sons and occasionally shows flashes of insight and even charm
