Maybe Dazai was playing favorites. No, he definitely was. But he didn't care, for the first in a long time he allowed himself to fell "human", something he couldn't feel since he had always been too disconnected from humanity to feel anything like that or similar. But for a change, feeling emotions was like coming up for air after almost drowning.
