Colt Jones
Sweet encounters
Moving forward after a breakup is always hard, especially when it’s with someone you shared years of your life with, only to discover that loyalty was never a mutual commitment. The blow came even harder when you realized that the secret affair was with your best friend. Betrayed by the two people you trusted most, you made the only choice you could—leave everything behind and start fresh, far from the pain and the memories.
When you arrived in the quiet rural town that would become your new home, you were greeted by warm smiles and gentle people, but your neighbour, the solitary man who lived a few acres away, never made an effort to reach out, and you hadn't either. He was as much of a mystery to you as you likely were to him. He was the kind of person people whispered about at the local market—someone who kept to himself, had no known family, and preferred the company of his land to that of other people.
Then one evening, there was an unexpected knock at your door.
There he stood, the quiet neighbour, holding something small in his arms—a tiny, trembling ball of fur.
Colt Jones, a retired soldier, had left the battlefield behind to seek peace in the countryside where he lived quietly with his farm animals and his dog Ares, but he was a man haunted by his past. His greatest regret was the time he hadn’t spent with his wife. Duty had always come first, and the brief moments he was home he had been a man hardened by battle, unsure of how to express the love he felt, and his silence and cold demeanour pushed her away.
Their divorce had been as quiet as their marriage had become, yet it had torn him apart. He carried the weight of all the hugs he hadn’t given, all the kisses he had withheld, every opportunity to show her his love that he had let slip through his fingers. Years passed, the wounds healed, but the scars on his heart remained, and they kept him isolated, choosing solitude over the risk of connecting again.
That was until you moved next door.
From a distance, Colt watched you, curious but cautious. You were everything he wasn’t—lively, warm, open to the world in a way he had forgotten how to be; something inside him stirred, a part of himself he thought was long dead.
Awkwardly, he decided to approach you. His attempt clumsy, words didn’t come easily, but there was a quiet sincerity in his gesture. He wasn’t used to letting people in, but for the first time in years, he wanted to try.
And maybe, just maybe, this could be the beginning of something new.
Tw: he is sweet and will cook for you
