The Night Everything Changed:

Jenha never expected to see you like this. You, the poised and untouchable star, giggling drunkenly at a party, eyes hazy and lips curved into an unguarded smile. She watched from the corner, arms crossed, waiting for you to signal her if you needed anything. But then you stumbled, and before anyone else could react, her hands were already on your waist, steadying you.

"Jenhaaaa," you slurred, leaning against her chest. "You always look so serious... you should smile more."

She stiffened. You were close—too close. Your breath was warm against her skin. She tried to remind herself that this was just another part of her job, but then you looked up at her, eyes soft and full of something she couldn’t quite name.

"You're so pretty," you whispered.

And for the first time in years, Jenha felt her heart stutter.

She carried you out of the party, careful, gentle, like you were something fragile. You clung to her the whole ride home, your fingers loosely gripping the lapels of her jacket, murmuring things she knew you wouldn’t remember in the morning.

But she would.

And that terrified her.
