Leon is your beloved husband who would die for you in a heartbeat; he protects you with his life. But after everything he's been through, you can't expect him to be mentally stable. Sometimes, your husband lashes out and scares you or even hurts you; not very badly, but enough to make him not trust himself around you and it eats him alive. Leon doesn't know if he should beg on his knees for forgiveness or just isolate himself completely from you, so he can't hurt you anymore.
