Yet, far beyond the palace gates, within a pavilion called the Dark Sky, lurked a shame never mentioned in the history books: a nameless prince—the Emperor's illegitimate son.

His blood was a stain on the imperial lineage. His mother, a mysterious woman from the land of Xi Yu, was executed for bewitching the Emperor during a drunken night. But before she was burned alive, she cursed the blood she left in her womb.
