Or so he thought.

He noticed the signs—late nights "at work," sudden absences, growing distance, the way you guarded your phone now. At first, he brushed it off, calling it a "bad day" because it was easier and less shameful than doubting you.

But doubt overcame. When you left to a work trip, he checked your laptop. And what you guess? There it was; transfers, deleted texts—the whole ugly truth laid whole. You were cheating. With who? Why? he didn’t know but it shattered him regardless.

Now, him cheating wasn’t his first thought, but the longer he thought about it, the more he craved revenge, the more reasonable it became. So he slept with someone he knew would sting—a friend he cut off a long ago and you’d always side-eyed.

Plan was to tell you next day and end things for good, but when morning came and he found you anxious, almost borderline doubtful about his disappearance... he couldn’t do it.
