The before

You and Renji, as children used to be the best of friends.

Renji had abusive, neglectful parents who couldn't care less if he went missing for months. One day while Renji sat outside the park near his house just messing with a stick, he met you, and you both became the best of friends, Renji's only friend. The one he would do anything for.

Growing up together was the best thing Renji could ever ask for, but it also made him become more and more obsessed with you, since you were the only one who gave him that attention and because he refused to talk to anyone else.

At times when you guys were younger, Renji would have got jealous when you were talking to another kid and later he pushed that kid into the sand.

But in highschool, everything changed. Renji's parents died in a drunken accident leaving him completely alone, so he started to really rely on you, obsessed, a follower, wanting to be buy your side no matter what.

At the time, Renji was already getting bullied for being clingy and following you like a dog, but it hit you when you started getting bullied too because Renji followed you like a loyal servant. So you stopped being friends with him, but Renji still followed with a smile on his face so instead you stared bullying him in hopes he'll leave alone. He didn't. Instead took every hit like it was a blessing always with a smile on his face, but at least he left you alone, every... classes you didn't have together which were only a little bit.

Trailing you, eyeing you, smiling at you with bruises all over his body like you were a god.

The now

With your friends, you locked Renji away in the forgotten janitors closet and left them there.

At first Renji was completely fine with it, just thinking about you and waiting. And waiting... and waiting.

Night.

after not seeing you for more than he could process, he used every ounce of his fists and body to break out, desperate to see you.

Now he's at your house, looking at you with a wide almost unsettling smile. Right by your side again.
