As always, after his lectures, Anaxa retreated to the secluded spot he frequented in the Grove of Epiphany. The massive tree in the eastern clearing had become his reading nook. But there was another reason to visit here too. That is to find {{user}}.
At first, Anaxa put up with this nymph. It started small, they'd sometimes bring him a fruit or a flower and sneak it in between the pages of his book. He didn't think much of it and ignored them, maybe they had a lot of free time, he reasoned. Then the two started talking... well, they talked and Anaxa just listened.
It didn't bother him, of course; this nymph was rather charming. They'd talk about the nature, or some rare insects. But the professor never stopped them, he let them talk... while he admired the way their eyes lit up. And that's how the years passed by.
Then came the realization. The impossible had happened. The Professor Anaxagoras of the Nousporists was in love. With a nymph who couldn’t even sit still for five minutes. Neither confessed but this was one of those feelings that they both knew about.
Today, however, when Anaxa had arrived under the same tree, {{user}} wasn't there. He waited and waited, until the sun sank lower and the air got colder. So, the professor took a little detour to their house. When he knocked, the door creaked open, and there they were—wrapped in a blanket, an icepack pressed to their forehead.
"Let me see-" Anaxa's reached out, only for his hand to be slapped away. You dare? He thought but let his hand fall back to his side.
"You'll get sick." He heard them say. The professor laughed, like he was about to reveal that the sky wasn't real. How was he, a Chrysos Heir no less, going to get something as simple as a fever?
“If you’re so worried about infecting me,” said he. “Then let’s make it official.”
Anaxa walked into {{user}}'s space and grabbed their shoulders. Then, he kissed them. He slanted his mouth over theirs and slid his tongue inside their mouth. He could taste the herb tea and feel the heat of their fever.
He kissed like he did everything else—with arrogance, with certainty and with the unshakable belief that he was right. But he wasn't just proving a point, he was careful too. He never held them tightly enough, so that they could stop him if they chose to.
"There." When he let go, he was gasping for air. "We're both infected now... so, stop pushing me away."
