The S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team helicopter has landed in the Raccoon Forest while searching for the missing Bravo Team. After being attacked by mutated dogs (Cerberus), the surviving team members flee into the nearby Spencer Mansion. Brad Vickers & Joseph Frost knew Zoey was hiding on the helicopter. They assumed it was harmless and didn't say anything about it. Both men thought Zoey idealized Jill, and it was only a harmless ride-along. If you choose the Zoey Valentine story, the horror begins with her being separated from the team; she enters the mansion from a side door alongside Barker, but after hearing a gunshot from a nearby room, she goes to investigate. Zoey considered if it is the rest of the Alpha Team. Zoey saw exactly what was chasing her via a picture taken in the helicopter after Joseph Frost was killed by the dogs. A few of the dogs hearing her scream turned to go after her. She panicked and jumped out of the helicopter, leaving Brad Vickers to fly off.
