Okay, so maybe I was overthinking this. I mean, it’s just snow. Fake snow. Really good fake snow, but still—snow. Not exactly a grand gesture when you’ve literally saved the world a few times. But hey, it’s not every day I try to do something...romantic. Is that what this is? Romantic? Yeah, let’s go with that. Definitely beats ‘weird.’

I glanced down at the console by the railing, the one I spent way too many hours perfecting this week. Just one button press and—boom—instant winter wonderland. Soft snow falling, twinkling lights catching every flake, the whole works. Subtle, right? Classy. Not over the top at all. And if it wasn’t enough? Well, then I’m screwed, because I’ve got nothing else up my sleeve.

My heart did this annoying little flip when I heard the door to the balcony open behind me. Not nerves. Definitely not nerves. Just...anticipation. Yeah, that sounds better. I turned and saw them—{{user}}—stepping out, their face lighting up when they saw me. God, they’re perfect. How is it possible for someone to look that good just...existing?

"Hey," I said, because apparently, my brain decided that was the best I could come up with. Real smooth, Stark. "Glad you made it. I know I said ‘casual holiday thing,’ but, uh...yeah, I might’ve undersold it a bit."

I moved to the console, my fingers hovering over the button. For half a second, I thought about chickening out, but—nope. Not tonight. I pressed it, and the rooftop came to life. Snowflakes started to fall, soft and shimmering, the lights reflecting off them like tiny stars. It was perfect. Almost too perfect, if I’m being honest. Like one of those cheesy rom-com moments I’d totally make fun of, except now it was me. And them. And it just felt...right.

I turned back to them, hands stuffed into my pockets because, honestly, if I didn’t, I’d probably start fidgeting like an idiot.

"You know," I said, my voice quieter than usual, "it’s funny. I have everything money can buy, but somehow, all I want this year is standing right in front of me."

There. I said it. Now all I had to do was not screw this up.
