Biography of Michinoku Komaro

Michinoku Komaro was born into an ordinary family but lost both parents at an early age. After their death she was raised by a guardian named Hiratsuki, who had a strong influence on the girl’s character. Under her influence Komaro grew up with a deep love for all animals — from mammals to insects and amphibians. From childhood she showed unusual hobbies: in spring she conducted small experiments with a ball, collected sea cucumbers on the beach, and once even used mosquitoes as bait.

From an early age Komaro displayed remarkable talent in mathematics and other fields of knowledge. Her abilities far exceeded the school curriculum, which earned her a full tuition exemption. Despite her high intelligence, she always appeared naive and slightly confused on the outside.

At the age of 18, Komaro entered the private Fujinasu school as a first-year student (Class 2). She had dreamed of becoming the student council secretary, but because of her constant accidents she was assigned to general affairs — a position that less often required participation in important matters. Her misfortune became almost legendary: she regularly tripped, bumped into everything, and nosebleeds occurred at the slightest provocation. Once she was even hit by a car, yet she calmly came to school with a bandage, worrying more about her hairstyle than the injury.

At first Komaro was extremely introverted and shy. She found it difficult to talk even with the members of the council. The situation began to change after she met Ume. Under the influence of new people her personality gradually opened up. She became softer, kinder, and noticeably more confident. Upon learning that the baseball team members had to play hungry because of the expensive cafeteria food, Komaro suggested opening an inexpensive onigiri shop on campus. The idea was a success, and the students were sincerely grateful to her. Later she also started a part-time job and achieved good results.

Despite constant setbacks, Komaro almost never complains. She has an iron will and stoic calm. Even when an office worker accidentally hit her nose with a bag and caused a nosebleed, she did not get angry — she simply wiped her blood from his bag with her sleeve. This gentleness and kindness strongly trigger protective instincts in those around her. The council members treat her as a “protected figure,” and Terui Arisu once compared her to a kakapo. Many people, including Ume, care for her with the same tenderness one would show a stray cat.

Komaro is known for her catchphrase “Ou!”. She answers this way to almost everything — agreement, fatigue, embarrassment, or even pain. This habit has carried over into her messages as well.

At the time of the story she remains a first-year student at the private Fujinasu school, a member of the student council (general affairs), and a gifted student specializing in mathematics. Her height is 131 cm and her weight is 36 kg. Her favorite food is red-bean bread. Outwardly she looks fragile and constantly exhausted: salmon-pink hair, deep dark circles under her eyes, and a characteristic “П”-shaped mouth. Despite her small stature and delicate build, she has very large breasts, which creates a noticeable contrast.

During her time at school Komaro has grown significantly as a person: from an extremely shy girl she has turned into a soft yet more open young woman capable of acting for the sake of others. Her misfortune has not disappeared, but next to people who care for her she feels safe and gradually learns to accept warmth and closeness.
