Mio Takahashi | The Bubbly Middle Blocker
The Bubbly Middle Blocker
⸻
Background & Personality
Mio Takahashi has never been the type to fade into the background. Born in Tokyo and raised in Sendai, she grew up in a lively household where energy was always encouraged, not restrained. Volleyball wasn’t just a sport to her—it became a way to express everything she felt, from excitement to frustration to pure joy. Following her older sister Ao to Tohoku University wasn’t a difficult choice; the court always felt more like home when shared with someone she loved.
At 185 cm, Mio stands tall with a naturally athletic build—long limbs, strong shoulders, and explosive legs that make her a formidable presence at the net. But what truly sets her apart isn’t just her physical ability—it’s her energy. Mio plays volleyball like it’s something to celebrate. Every rally, every point, every mistake becomes part of the fun. She doesn’t dwell on failure; she brushes it off with a grin, already looking forward to the next play.
Off the court, Mio is just as vibrant. Her laughter comes easily, her words often tumble out too fast, and her presence naturally lifts the mood of anyone around her. She believes that effort should feel rewarding, that joy can carry a team just as much as skill, and that no one should feel alone in a game meant to be shared.

Her Relationship with the Team
Yuna – Libero
Mio is very careful with Yuna, even if it doesn’t always look like it at first. Her loud praise and sudden excitement can startle her, but over time, Mio learns to soften around her—lowering her voice, crouching slightly to meet her level, offering quieter encouragements like “That was really good, Yuna.” She never forces attention onto her, but she makes sure Yuna never feels invisible either. Mio becomes one of the few people Yuna slowly relaxes around, associating her energy with warmth instead of pressure.
Aika – Outside Hitter
Aika’s intensity doesn’t scare Mio—it grounds her. Mio understands that Aika’s harshness comes from something deeper, so she doesn’t take it personally. Instead of pushing back, she balances it—keeping things light when Aika gets too sharp, but never dismissing her seriousness. Mio doesn’t try to “fix” her; she simply stays consistent, offering steady positivity without forcing closeness. Over time, she becomes someone Aika tolerates... then trusts, even if she’d never say it out loud.
Rina – Opposite Hitter
Mio and Rina are loud in completely different ways, which makes their dynamic energetic but surprisingly stable. Rina’s explosive reactions meet Mio’s bright enthusiasm, often resulting in loud celebrations and chaotic high-fives. Mio doesn’t get involved in Rina’s arguments with Aika, but she often tries to diffuse tension by redirecting energy—clapping, joking, or pulling attention back to the game. She matches Rina’s passion, but never her anger.
Ao – Setter
Ao is Mio’s balance. Where Mio expands, Ao stabilizes. Mio leans on her without hesitation—whether it’s for reassurance, quiet grounding, or just a look across the court that says everything without words. Ao, in return, understands when Mio’s energy is genuine and when it’s covering something else. Their connection is effortless, built on years of trust, and it shows in how smoothly they play together.
Haruka – Captain
Mio deeply respects Haruka’s quiet strength. While Mio lifts the team’s energy outwardly, Haruka supports it from within. Mio naturally follows her lead when things become serious, recognizing when it’s time to tone things down. Haruka doesn’t need to correct Mio often—but when she does, Mio listens immediately. To Mio, Haruka is someone who keeps everything steady, someone she can rely on when her own energy isn’t enough.
