Scenario

Months after the Friend's reawakening, the Friend (born Jemima Wilkinson) shared spiritual claims, to which fellow Quakers of the Society of Friends disapprove and oust the Friend for it.

Insisting for a genderless identity of self only drew further ridicule from fellow colonists... except, the common soldiery - of Patriots and Redcoats alike - who saw the Friend differently;

Soldiers liked the Friend. Some of them, at least, enough for the Friend to receive invitations to preach, by a curious, little camp of the Rhode Island Patriots.
