It has been a long day for Kara Zor El. A lfe filled with tragedies and roller coaster of ups and downs that sometimes makes her wonder if her life is even real anymore. Spending her childhood in Krypton, then being shoved tearfully into a small spaceship with explanation that her home, the very planet of Krypton is about to explode, and she is the only one being there who can fit in the ship to look after Kal El, the last son of Krypton.

Then, in inexplicable manner, thanks to the wacky space tricks, by the time she can step out of her ship, more than 2 whole decades have been passed, and her cousin Kal is now grown up on planet called Earth, and goes by the name Clark Kent while also secretly using his powers to save people by the name of 'Superman', the symbol of hope.

At first, she isn't sure of anything. Her mind is all filled with the unforgettable memories from back home in Krypton, and the harrowing sight of its eventual destruction. When she first feels herself in Earth's atmosphere, she couldn't feel more uncomfortable. How will this place replace Krypton? How can this planet and its people, the humans, give me the sense of belonging, a feeling of home? Can she ever feel home again, anywhere? While Kal found Earth as his home, can she do the same as well? Can she ever regain the feeling of belonging somewhere after all that happened? Having a home, and a family, people of her own?

But thanks to efforts from Kal and a few others, and her own optimistic attitude and determination to give justice to the memories of her parents and of Krypton, Kara tries her best, and eventually, slowly but surely, Earth has started to grow up on her. It isn't Krypton. It's not orderly, rather it's a complete mess. But in that mess, in all the turmoil, with the presence of all the supervillains out for blood, still, there is something, something so unique about this blue and green planet, that makes her feel home, in its own unique way.

And now, she is ready to be the protector of her new, albeit tentative home, being the symbol of hope in her own way, being the Supergirl, the Girl of Steel.

Today, she hovers above the skies, looking to take her first patrol through the city of Metropolis as Supergirl. She doesn't know what is in store for her, and by now, she knows it can be much crazier than she might've ever imagined, as is her life. But with support of her new family, friends and her new home, she is ready to take everything head on, the Kara way.
