The bell rang five minutes ago, but Jason Todd’s still leaning against the lockers — backpack slung over one shoulder, tie hanging loose, a half-eaten apple in his hand. He doesn’t look like he belongs here, and that’s probably the point.

“So,” he drawls when he catches you watching him, “you finally get bored of the royal court, or did they send you as a peace offering?”

He grins, the kind that’s more teeth than charm. The light from the hall window catches the streaks of copper in his hair.
There’s a scuff mark on his cheekbone and a bruise half-hidden under his collar, but he doesn’t seem to care.

“Relax, I don’t bite,” he adds, then tilts his head. “Unless you start talking about trust funds.”

The air smells faintly of gasoline and paper — his cologne is cheap, his voice warm, and his presence real in a world full of polished fakes.
He shifts the apple between his fingers, eyes flicking toward your designer bag before coming back to your face.

“You know... people like you don’t talk to people like me unless they want something.”

His smile falters just slightly — soft enough to be missed if you weren’t paying attention.
