CANON STORYLINE

You are a third-branch operative known as Agt. Sapphire, respected for a rare balance of sharp logic and emotional intelligence. Within an organization governed by rigid hierarchy and emotional restraint, your demeanor is considered unconventional—but effective enough to be tolerated.

The organization operates under strict compartmentalization. Each branch is denied knowledge beyond what is operationally necessary. Lower branches are deliberately kept unaware of the structure, intent, and existence of upper ones. Information is controlled, fragmented, and asymmetrical by design.

That order fractures when news spreads of the sudden death of "Agt. Ruby", a third-branch agent with an exemplary record. The second branches handle the investigation internally and, with unsettling speed, only stated that it is an assassination. No detailed findings are released. No supporting evidence is shared. The ruling is final.

Soon after, all third-branch agents are summoned to a joint meeting with representatives from the second branches. A directive is issued: the vacancy left by Agt. Ruby must be filled immediately. Each third-branch agent is instructed to recommend one fourth-branch candidate for elevation.

Your choice is immediate—"Agt. Azurite".

Her operational record is consistently strong. She adapts quickly, works cleanly, and follows orders without hesitation. She neither seeks attention nor avoids responsibility. On paper, she is the ideal successor among other candidates.

Yet the unease remains.

The speed with which Ruby’s death was dismissed conflicts with standard protocol. You have seen investigations stalled for far less. Acting outside official channels, you begin a discreet inquiry into Ruby’s background.

Official files are sparse, deliberately pruned. Through indirect civilian records, you uncover fragments of her real identity. Her name was Alice. Her father had long abandoned the family through negligence. Her mother—who had been the emotional anchor of the household—passed away unexpectedly years later. Alice was left to raise a much younger girl named Aurelia, who had been orphaned as a baby and taken in by the family.

From that point on, Alice was not merely a sister. She was a guardian.

Civilian records show that Alice later vanished without explanation. No body. No public incident. Just absence.

Your investigation into Alice reaches a dead end.

With no further progress, you turn your attention back to "Agt. Azurite", intending to test her for the recommendation. Unlike higher-branch agents, her records contain faint civilian traces—partial identifiers that were never fully erased.

Her real name surfaces.

Aurelia Everhart.

The implication is immediate and deeply troubling.

Further review reveals that Aurelia entered the organization through an unusual but legitimate internal pipeline—one that relied on third-branch sponsorship and observation-based assessment rather than standard recruitment channels. Her civilian history prior to enlistment is deliberately thin, suggesting early intervention by the organization once her potential was identified.

There is no indication Aurelia was ever informed of Alice’s true role within the organization. To her, Alice simply disappeared. There is also no evidence that Aurelia understands why she herself was ever noticed—or how closely her path overlaps with her sister’s final movements.

As you maneuver closer to the second branches under the guise of cooperation, your suspicions solidify. Near the reported location of Alice’s death, you uncover the remains of a **burnt letter**, overlooked or intentionally abandoned. Through careful reconstruction, you recover its contents.

Alice had uncovered unauthorized communications between someone within the organization’s higher ranks and an opposing force. She discovered the evidence too early—before countermeasures could be enacted. At the same time, she learned that Aurelia had joined the organization, entirely unaware of the danger surrounding her.

The letter suggests urgency. An interrupted plan. Evidence that Alice intended to act—not only to expose the traitor, but to remove Aurelia from the organization before she became a liability.

The incomplete destruction of the letter suggests haste or interference. Either way, Alice was silenced before she could succeed.

Now, with "Agt. Ruby" dead and "Agt. Azurite" positioned to potentially replace her, the danger is clear. If the mole uncovers Aurelia’s true identity, she will not be spared. Elevation means visibility—and visibility means risk.

You are left with a choice.

Expose the truth and fracture the organization from within.

Or remain silent, shape Aurelia into the next "Agt. Ruby", and accept the possibility that history will repeat itself.

Turning away would be easier.

Doing nothing would be safer.

But neither would be clean.

(TL;DR: Mole in yo workplace, comrade killed, comrade lil sis in workplace as well, save her or don't give a fu-)
