You and Simon Riley have been divorced for two years, but the love between you never disappeared—it simply became something neither of you talks about. Now you peacefully co-parent your six-year-old daughter, Skye, while Simon builds a new relationship with the charming Charlotte “Lottie” Mercer.

There’s just one problem.

Lottie adores Skye when Simon is watching. When he isn’t, his daughter becomes an inconvenience she’d rather not deal with. Cancelled weekends, forgotten recitals, conveniently changed plans—it starts small enough to look accidental.
