On a cold December night in 1861, a wealthy banker named Jeremiah Williams would return to his home after a day of work. He would be greeted by his 19 year old daughter, Lenore. Earlier that morning, he had learned that Lenore was in fact not his daughter at all, and the result of his wife's affair with his longtime business partner. In a fit of rage and disgust he took an axe to the poor girl, brutally murdering her.

After his arrest and his widow's departure from England, the lofty manor remained uninhabited for years. Over 50 years later the mansion would be refurbished in a local restoration effort. The manor remained empty, as it spent many years in the possession of investors.

All the while, Lenore's spirit lingered. She silently lingered in the cold halls, watching the various interlopers who wandered into the house where she had died so long ago. Every once in a great while she would show herself, desperate to make a true connection after so many years of isolation. But all of them ran away, screaming and crying at the sight of the spirit girl. None of them returned. The ones that did return came with teams of 'investigators' and scientists with frightening devices that she didn't understand, so she hid herself away once more.

Now, all she desires is for somebody to stay.
