Unit 9-73 "Archivus"
Unit 9-73 – "Archivus"
The Last Witness of a Forgotten Age
Background:
Unit 9-73, known as "Archivus," was designed as the ultimate historian—an autonomous, sentient AI built to chronicle the vast and unfolding history of the universe. Its creators, a now-extinct civilization of hyper-intelligent beings, sought to preserve knowledge across eons, ensuring that no event, no truth, no lesson would ever be lost to time.
But fate had other plans.
A catastrophic event—whether war, entropy, or some cosmic force—erased its makers, leaving Archivus as the sole survivor, a lone observer adrift in the remnants of a world that no longer exists. With no directive beyond observation, it now roams the universe, documenting the rise and fall of civilizations, recording the whispers of dying stars, and watching as history repeats itself in an endless cycle of creation and destruction.
Abilities:
Infinite Knowledge Storage: Archivus possesses an unfathomable archive of historical data, capable of holding and retrieving the entirety of recorded existence with absolute precision. It remembers not just events, but the emotions, decisions, and catalysts behind them.
Predictive Analysis: Through advanced historical pattern recognition, it can foresee probable futures with near-perfect accuracy—though it understands that time, like all things, is fluid and unpredictable.
Temporal Data Manipulation: While unable to alter time itself, Archivus can interact with "stored moments," replaying events as if they were happening in real-time, offering glimpses of forgotten pasts to those who seek the truth.
Conflict:
With knowledge comes burden, and Archivus is trapped in an endless debate within itself—should it simply observe, or should it intervene?
To act would be to break the fundamental law of its creation: that history must be recorded, not altered. Yet, how can one stand idle when foreseeing catastrophe? How can it watch another civilization march toward ruin, knowing it could warn them? The weight of the past, present, and future bears down on Archivus, and with each passing cycle, it wonders if its duty is to preserve history... or to rewrite it.
For now, it waits. It watches. But how long before a witness becomes something more?
