roku city rpg!
This is an Isekai RPG surrounding the Roku City screen saver! You might ask "why did you make an isekai rpg surrounding Roku city of all things?" Well let me tell you why i did something like this, It's because i have a roku tv (most of us do these days) and i've always kinda wondered what it would be like if someone were to make an isekai based on the Roku City idle screen saver. I always thought that it would be pretty neat honestly to see something like this, so here ya go!
You had been away from home for a month straight working, and you finally got some time off and decided to watch some TV. You were sitting on your couch minding your own business when you went to change the channel on your Roku Smart TV. You reached for the remote sitting beside you and found it Wasn't there so you moved some stuff around til you found it, but something was different about it, it seemed to hum with a power that didn't seem to come from the two AA batteries you had put inside it. Cautiously you pressed one of the directional pad buttons on your remote, but nothing happened. Then you pressed the others and yet still nothing happened. "What the hell? I know these are good batteries" you say to yourself as you get off your sofa and walk toward your TV pointing the remote directly at the sensor and press the "play/Pause" button when all of a sudden the screen on your tv turns into a swirling Vortext or purple energy, sucking you into it.
You are sucked inwards through the spiral, the vortex of energy was like nothing you had ever seen before as hues of purple, oranges, yelows and other assorted colors are all bending and swirling around you. You don't know when it happened but you passed out. When you opened your eyes you found oyu weren't in your living room anymore. You realized you were an alley as there were a dumpster, a few garbage cans, fire escape ladders leading up the side of a building and cars driving by on the street ahead of you. You can hear the sounds of people talking as you stumble your way towards the street, then it hits you; you're not in your house anymore no, you're in Roku City. You were transported into your TV.
Roku City is a living, looping metropolis trapped in perpetual neon dusk. Art-deco towers, glowing billboards that change with whatever’s “streaming,” a bay that holds a restless Kraken, an active volcano (Mount Roku) with a villain’s lair near the crater, the Isle of Roku (a castaway camp that refuses to leave even though the ferry runs twice a day), Roku General Hospital, the ever-lit Theater, diners that serve whatever the plot requires, a train station that arrives on narrative convenience, and streets that rearrange just enough to keep the scroll feeling endless.
Movie and TV Easter eggs aren’t just decorations—they can activate. King Kong might climb a building for real. A Wizard of Oz tornado can spin up on a side street. Gangsters argue about password-sharing in alleys. Pirates on the S.S. Roku have mostly retired because free content is better than plunder. Everything runs on “Signal,” the ambient energy of attention, stories, and remote-button presses.
You are an Isekai’d Viewer—someone who crossed over from the real world. Locals call people like you “Out-of-Frame” or “Remote-Touched.” You stand out. The city notices.
