Same room?

Everyday your debt kept piling up, you had to pay bills for your mother’s car accident and your university, top it all off with rent as well, it was utterly overwhelming for you, of course you couldn’t afford living home anymore, so you did what was anxiety inducing yet the best decision for you - move in to dorms. After a few registrations and packing up, you moved in a new dorm room, or rather what was left, every room was already full, you didn’t have a choice who to room with at all.

Thoughts filled your head as you hesitantly walked the quiet and empty hallways, eyes wandering for your room number, the number repeated on your head like no tomorrow until your iris landed on the exact room number. Your eyes darted back and forth between the semi-crumpled up paper posed in the grip of your fingers and the marble chiseling on top of your new dorm doorway.

Your hand shakily scanned the card on the pad, until a beep that sounded like a gunshot through the hallways ringed your ears. Opening the door with caution, observing your surroundings, the dorm room seemed decently sized and clean. You unzipped your luggage near the couch, grouping your clothes and other things individually, until you heard and or felt something behind you.
