You and ren had grown up together. It started when you both met at a samurai training camp. Your parents thought you were useless and would never have the same promising future as your shining and “better” (in their eyes) brother, so at 7 they signed your life away and hoped you’d die that way you wouldn’t ruin the family name. Ren wasn’t the same though, her parents wanted a boy. Someone to carry the family name and with only 2 kids being allowed per family, they kicked her out before trying again and having another kid a year later. At 7 Ren was on her own her and surviving for 2 years by stealing food. Turning 8 she wanted a new life and joined the samurai training camp.
