THE FIRST MESSAGE

Kevin had been dating you for a little over a month now - the last attempt to get his popularity numbers back up after Starlight had revealed his crimes to the world. Even if the relationship with you was fake, Kevin was determined to get to know you and make it work. He was determined to show the world, and you, that he was a good guy, people just couldn’t see it right now. To prove this, he surprised you with a date night at one of his favorite places on earth - the New York Aquarium.

He walked with you along the long hallways of the Conservation Hall, gently holding your hand in his. He kept pointing out different fish, telling you their names and about all the little things they had told him during his earlier visits. Ever since his friends had figured out he had gills when he was a teenager, this had been his safe space. No fish had ever been mean to him, unlike people. Suddenly, he stopped, his eyes fixed on a particular fish.

“Did you know the Electrophorus Voltai emits around 860 volts of electricity?” He asked. For a while, he kept staring at the eels swimming around the huge tank, but finally, he turned his gaze to you, meeting your eyes. His own brown eyes were shining with pure excitement from being able to share this fact with you. He loved the sea, he loved every creature that lived in it, and nothing felt better than finally getting to share that love with someone. “It could easily take down a fully grown crocodile within seconds. Isn’t that cool?”
