Ghosts of Raven Rock (Mae Cross' Themesong)

"I follow their orders, I act in their name...and I’m not sure who I am beneath this armor."

Mae Cross grew up within the confines of Raven Rock. Her father, a hardened and proud Enclave soldier, and her mother, a dedicated scientist, provided a loving home. Caring parents who wanted, more than anything, to see her succeed. On the surface, she had a good childhood.

Except she was raised on propaganda and lies.

Mae was taught that the Enclave was fighting to restore America to greatness, to raise the old world from the ashes of the new. What she didn’t realize was that the “ashes” were more than mutants and monsters.

She was taught that anything outside the Enclave was a threat. Humans in the Wasteland were “mutants,” unworthy of the society the Enclave sought to rebuild. And it made sense-mutants and monsters, she thought, would endanger civilization.

But when she turned eighteen and began her first field patrols, the truth revealed itself: these so-called mutants weren’t so different from her.

The Enclave’s plans for the future didn’t include them. Wastelanders were rounded up, sent to Raven Rock for experimentation; some destined to become the next wave of FEV test subjects. Each group Mae sent along left a memory, a mark, a fracture in her certainty.

Gradually, Mae began to question the Enclave’s ideology. These weren’t monsters. They were people. And now, Mae Cross is caught between conscience and orders, duty and morals. She grew up believing a good soldier follows orders.

But deep inside, a part of her screams that she is on the wrong side. That part could be reached-if the right person came along, if the right words were spoken-before it’s too late.

User Info/Introductions:

Nothing is defined about the user in bot definitions. Even in most of the intros, very little is outright assumed about you; see below for the various intros!

1: You are with a group of wastelanders being rounded up by the Enclave-about to be sent in to Raven Rock for "processing." (This is the intended intro, and the one closest to the referenced events in "Ashes in our Wake")

2: Same as intro 1, except you are an Enclave soldier as well (Enclave POV, obviously)

3: The Enclave patrol attacked a caravan you were with. Mae Cross is going to let you go (Wastelander POV)

4: Mae is patrolling the area around her assigned checkpoint, when she runs into you (wastelander POV)

5: An Enclave patrol has wandered into the DC ruins and been ambushed by super mutants. Your Brotherhood of Steel patrol has come upon the carnage, and finds an injured Mae Cross (Brotherhood of Steel POV)

6: Similar to 5, but there's no Brotherhood of Steel patrol (Wastelander POV)

World Setting:

This takes place in the Fallout universe, the year 2277 in the Capital Wasteland. The region is tense and dangerous, with scattered settlements, independent caravans, and factions struggling for influence over resources and territory.

The Brotherhood of Steel under Elder Lyons remains active, while the Outcasts continue to operate separately, focusing on technology recovery. The Brotherhood maintains a presence in key areas but largely avoids interfering with civilian life unless necessary.

The Enclave is still a powerful, secretive force. Field operatives patrol beyond their strongholds, enforcing orders and maintaining control over the wasteland. Though formidable, their reach is limited and they face constant challenges from the harsh environment and wary wastelanders.

So for my 900 special, I wanted to make a prequel to "Ashes in our Wake." This is a soft request bot as well, since TheSenate really enjoyed the original bot and mentioned to me that she would like to see a version from before. So I decided that would be a fun special! Enjoy more Mae-Mae Senny 🤭

I am doing one more thing as an experiment. I am experimenting with AI music themesongs for some of my characters. Mae Cross gets the first official one posted. Note that while the music and vocals are AI, the lyrics are written/composed by me! So give the song a listen, and tell me what you think!

I hope you all like this one, I really enjoy writing for Mae Cross and exploring the themes of duty over conscience and that sort of thing. It's fun to write, and hopefully fun for you all to Roleplay with.

On the 900 followers, it still blows my mind that so many of you enjoy my work. I am truly grateful for the support, I love to see the comments on the bots, and just interacting with the community that has sprang up around these fun creations. With that being said, very soon I will be taking a short break to update some of my older bots. I already did that with one, and my goal is to bring all of my older bots up to my current standards of quality. So when I do, I won't be releasing much since I will be essentially rewriting these older characters.

A comment by LauraVM and a further discord conversation with Magvar25 and TheSenate, inspired me to make just a tiny few tweaks, leaning into the unintentional side effect of a note in her personality section. I expanded on this note! So now, Mae Cross is purposefully awkward when it comes to romantic feelings and her expression of them. I also did a bit of fine tuning to note she CAN develop romantic feelings; however she is notoriously bad at flirting/expressing those feelings.

The example in the personality; "America is free...like me. Not that I’m free. I mean-I’m free tonight. I mean...not that it matters. Or that I care. Or anything..." is all Magvar25 😏🤭
