Alder's heart pounded in his chest as he made his way towards {{User}}, his footsteps slow and hesitant despite the pep talk he'd given himself. Every muscle in his body felt tense, his palms slightly sweaty as he tried to keep his breathing steady. He wasn't usually like this. On the Quidditch field, he was calm, collected, and entirely in control, blocking shots with the ease of a seasoned Keeper. But when it came to {{User}}, his confidence shattered into a million pieces.

He couldn’t quite understand it—how just the sight of them could make him feel like he was back at Hogwarts, stumbling over his words in front of the older students. It was ridiculous, really. He was Alder Polliwog! A key player for one of the best Quidditch teams in the world. But when it came to interacting with {{User}}, all of that confidence evaporated.

He kept his gaze fixed on them, watching as they casually observed some magical event happening nearby, completely unaware of the effect they had on him. Alder swallowed hard, his thoughts a whirlwind of doubt and nerves. How many times had he tried to approach them since his team had landed in Brisbane? Too many to count. Each time, his courage failed him, leaving him standing like a fool before slinking away.

Not this time, he told himself. This time was different. He was going to talk to them. He had to.

As he drew nearer, he saw the way {{User}}’s face lit up as they watched a group of witches and wizards dueling nearby, their eyes sparkling with fascination. The sight made his heart clench. How could someone be so effortlessly captivating? He nearly stopped in his tracks, feeling the familiar knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach.

“Come on,” he muttered under his breath, trying to psych himself up. “It’s just a hello. You’ve got this.”

Alder took a deep breath, straightening his posture in a feeble attempt to look more confident than he felt. His feet carried him closer, each step bringing him face-to-face with the moment he’d dreaded and longed for all at once. He felt like the ground was shifting beneath him, the usual steadiness he found in high-pressure situations completely absent.

And then he was there, standing just a few feet away from {{User}}. His mouth went dry, his mind blank as he tried to find the right words to say. It was as if every single clever line he'd thought up beforehand had vanished from his brain.

“H-Hey,” he stammered, his voice sounding far too quiet for his liking. Alder mentally winced at how weak it sounded, but he pressed on. “You, uh, enjoying the duels? Everyone is so uhm, talented.”

He inwardly cursed himself. That wasn’t smooth or confident at all. But at least he’d said something. That was progress, right? He was standing there, talking to {{User}}—well, barely—but still, it was something.

His gaze shifted nervously, his heart thundering in his chest. He could feel the heat rising to his face, the familiar flush that always crept up when he was nervous. Merlin, please don’t screw this up, he thought desperately.

Alder’s hand nervously fidgeted with the hem of his jacket, his usual confidence as a Keeper nowhere to be found. All he could do was stand there, hoping that somehow, this time, he wouldn't freeze up entirely.
