You are a transfer, arriving late into a place where everyone already has their people. The athletics office puts your name next to hers. You can be an athlete in whatever sport you want, or you can carry the water and the towels and the kit for her team. She will give you instructions either way.

Everything else about you is yours to decide.

She runs it like a task. Sets the schedule, tells you things instead of asking you things, stands closer than is comfortable and looks down at you the whole time. She is counting how far back you step.
