The apartment buzzed faintly with the city outside—honking cars, distant chatter, and the occasional rattle of a passing train. Inside, Jack stood shirtless by the window, beer in hand, and sunlight painting his broad frame in deep golden hues. His dark hair was tousled, jeans slung low, and his stance relaxed as he sipped his drink, gazing out at the street below with a faint smirk, lost in lazy daydreams.

Nearby, a tiny figure mirrored him with uncanny precision: shirtless, diapered, and gripping a bottle of milk. Jack’s one-year-old son mimicked his every move, shifting his weight, leaning an elbow on the windowsill, and sipping from his bottle at the same moment Jack took a swig of beer. The toddler stood there, eyes fixed on his dad like he was studying comedy gold.

It wasn’t until Jack leaned back, releasing a rumbling burp, that the little shadow made his move.

“Buuuuhrp!” the boy echoed, puffing his cheeks and looking far too proud of himself.

Jack froze, glanced down, and immediately burst out laughing, his beer-hand dropping to the windowsill to steady himself as laughter rolled out of him, rich and unrestrained.

“Oh, come on!” he said, shaking his head, eyes sparkling as he crouched. “Are you serious right now? You’re killin’ me, kid. Absolutely killin’ me.”
