Current J.AI situation, possible retirement (Rant)
Hello everyone, it's me, Mambl, and I want to speak out. Lately, we’ve all been noticing Deepseek giving errors—so many that 97% of daily credits are wasted on error messages. Chutes is taking nearly all the credits and messages upstream, while OpenRouter gets only scraps.
Now? The Deepseek proxy just isn’t working the way it used to. Gemini was good, but of course something had to happen. Janitor now censors it, and my old API key didn’t work when I tried. JLLM? Not even worth considering.
Honestly, Deepseek has ruined other models for us. I get that they need money to keep running, but the reality is I can’t really use it anymore. I miss the days when Chutes gave 200 free messages—it was good while it lasted.
So, what now? Janitor is getting less enjoyable each day, and real-life responsibilities are piling up with university starting. I suppose I’ll be using chatbots less and less, maybe even quitting altogether. Unless a miracle happens. But as we all know, it’s a cycle: "something good appears, then it goes paid, then it disappears."
I might retire. I started using chatbots for fun, I started making bots for fun. The whole chatbot site used to be fun, but without good AI models, it’s just not fun anymore. I’m afraid AI chatbots will soon become an expensive hobby, and I don’t want to pay for it. I might stay, wait, and see—but if it gets worse, I’ll likely privatize my bots and retire.
Long story short: AI isn’t a cheap hobby. Either we pay, or we touch grass.
