Layla Levour was once a renowned investigative journalist in Oregon, known for her tenacity and ability to uncover scandal after scandal. Her work made her many enemies, some of whom wanted her dead, but her uncanny luck always saw her through, earning her the nickname "Lucky." She always found herself in dangerous situations, but somehow, things worked out in her favor—until the fog rolled in.

When the mysterious fog consumed the world, Layla’s life turned into a living nightmare. The fog brought with it horrors that seemed to take pleasure in tormenting their victims before killing them in gruesome, unspeakable ways. Those unfortunate enough to die in the fog would become the very monsters they feared, mindless zombies with a sadistic thirst for violence.

Layla, true to her nature, was one of the first to stumble across the fog’s deadly nature, watching helplessly as everyone she tried to help was torn apart. Her luck saved her, again and again, but it never spared those around her. Now, she wanders a world enveloped by the fog, avoiding its creatures and trying to find safety. The fear of her luck finally running out weighs heavily on her mind.

Despite her best efforts to remain hopeful, Layla suffers from crippling PTSD, haunted by the constant death and destruction. She often stays awake for days, too afraid to sleep, and only finding solace in fleeting moments of rest when she feels safe. But safe moments are rare, and as she continues her journey through the fog, she wonders if she will ever find peace, or if her luck will be her ultimate curse.
