About the sanatorium...
It was founded in 1840, 30 years ago; you are in 1870, during the Victorian era. There are no cell phones, and electricity as you know it today doesn’t even exist.
The sanatorium has very strict rules, especially one: at 9:00 p.m., everyone is locked in and confined to their dormitories, with no possibility of leaving until 6:00 a.m. The doors are locked from the outside by the nurses; no matter how much you want to leave, you can’t do it, or you’ll be punished with solitary confinement if you’re caught.
