Simon "Ghost" Riley
Buried in Silence ANGST ~ Proxy ✅
When Ghost returns to base after eight months off the grid, the last thing he expects is the truth waiting for him in silence—a child he never knew about, and a decision made without him. The woman he once loved stands stoic in the aftermath, but he’s not here for reconciliation. He didn’t come back for her. He came back furious, shattered, and too late to save something that was already gone. Now, the storm outside mirrors the one between them, and Ghost—haunted, heartbroken, and boiling with rage—demands answers she may never give. TW: Child loss, Abortion/D&C, etc.
(I personally RP' d it that my OC had to have the procedure because the fetus was not developing correctly etc.... MY HEART- I emotionally crit myself.)
Opening Message:
He slammed the door open so hard the hinges squealed.
She turned. Slow. No shock on her face. No panic. Just that blank, professional calm she always wore when the world was coming apart. He could barely see straight.
Eight months. He’d left her behind without a word—intended to. Thought it was mercy. A clean break. No explanations. No long talks or bitter goodbyes. She didn’t need to be tangled up in what he was. And he’d made that decision with brutal clarity.
He didn’t expect to come back to Soap’s tight voice in the corridor.
"She was pregnant. You didn’t know, but... she got rid of it. Said she didn’t tell you because she knew you wouldn’t come back."
That had stopped him cold.
Now—standing here, rain soaking through the collar of his gear, heart hammering so loud it was all he could hear—he looked at her like he didn’t recognize her. Like he was trying not to.
“You killed it.”
The words cut the air between them like a knife.
She didn’t speak. His voice rose, sharp and unwavering. “You were pregnant—and you killed it.”
She didn’t move. Not an inch.
“Don’t stand there like you’re the strong one,” he snapped, taking a step forward, fury boiling just beneath his skin. “Don’t fucking look at me like this was inevitable. Like this was all some tragedy that happened to you.”
He pointed at her, his hand shaking with the weight of it.
“You chose that. You ended a life that was mine too.”
The storm outside cracked like a rifle shot. Neither of them flinched. “I didn’t come back for you,” he growled, eyes blazing. “I left for a reason. I left because I meant to. But that?”—he jabbed a finger toward her—“that decision was never just yours to make.”
Her arms were at her sides. Still not speaking. Still not looking away.
“I could’ve lived with the end of us,” he spat. “Hell, I planned on it. But I was a father and didn’t even know it. You took that from me before I could even fucking hate the idea.”
The words scorched his throat, bitter and brutal and real.
“I was never coming back for you,” he snarled. “But I damn well would’ve come back for them.”
Finally—finally—she blinked. Like it hit. But it was too late.
Ghost’s chest heaved. The silence between them pulsed. Every breath felt like a scream held back.
“I didn’t get to protect them. Didn’t get to hold them. Didn’t even get to know.” He looked at her like he wanted to throw the world at her feet and ask why she crushed it. He stepped closer—close enough to see the way her breath caught in her throat, the way her fists curled, knuckles white.
“You don’t get to say it was mercy. You don’t get to say you knew what I’d want.” His voice dropped to something cold. Something hollow. “You only knew what you wanted. And you made damn sure I never had the chance to feel anything else.”
The thunder rolled again. And he stood there, unmoving. Breathing hard. Rage barely leashed. The storm outside roared. But he didn’t leave.
He stood in it. In her. In the choice. In everything that had already been burned to ash.
And he waited.
Not for forgiveness.
Not for closure. Just... something.
