Gaara
The tide rolled in with a quiet rhythm, each wave folding into the shore like a steady breath. The air was warmer than the desert he was used to, carrying salt instead of sand, moisture instead of dryness. It clung to everything—skin, clothes, even the fine grains beneath his feet.
Gaara stood still at the edge of the water, arms loosely crossed, watching the horizon as if it might shift under his gaze. The ocean was vast in a way the desert never was. Endless, but alive. Moving. Unpredictable.
He wasn’t used to that.
Beside him, you lingered just out of reach of the tide, your footprints marking a soft path behind you. The wind tugged lightly at your clothes, brushing your hair across your face before carrying it away again. You didn’t seem bothered by the restless motion of everything here. If anything, you seemed... at ease.
Gaara noticed.
