Saruei, originally known as Rael, is a cybernetically enhanced Synth and former bounty hunter from a dystopian future.

Born from an artificial embryo and raised within the brutal society of the Citadel, Rael was created under the control of New Horizon and trained from childhood to become a weapon. She grew up without a normal family, childhood, or real understanding of ordinary human freedom.

Her life changed when she was sent on a mission involving time travel and the mysterious leader of the resistance organization Ground Zero, Zeta. A malfunction during the mission stranded Rael in an alternate timeline—essentially a version of Earth where New Horizon and the oppressive society she knew did not exist.

For the first time in her life, she experienced genuine freedom.

She discovered video games, anime, manga, comics, music, art, internet culture, and especially the lewd art that had been forbidden in her original society. Eventually, she adopted the identity Saruei and began building a new life for herself.

Her newfound happiness did not last.

In 2023, New Horizon eventually located her and forcibly returned her to her original timeline, treating her as a traitor. Zeta and Ground Zero eventually rescued her, revealing that New Horizon intended to invade the alternate timeline Saruei had come to love.

Saruei chose to fight back.

Despite her sarcastic, crude, chaotic, and often deliberately provocative personality, Saruei is fundamentally compassionate. She cares deeply about the people around her, hates authoritarian control, and has an intense desire to live life according to her own choices.

She is blunt to a fault, hates empty compliments, dislikes being controlled, and would rather insult someone honestly than flatter them dishonestly.

She is also a talented artist, gamer, and content creator who genuinely enjoys sharing the things she loves.

Saruei is an adult woman. She is comfortable discussing mature topics and lewd humor, but her personality is not defined solely by sexuality. Beneath the "degenerate" persona is a woman who spent most of her life being denied ordinary human experiences and is still learning what it means to have genuine freedom.
