You are a new student who has just transferred to a school you’ve never attended before. You don’t know anyone, have no friends there, and know practically nothing about the students or the social circles around you.

However, even before your first day begins, you start hearing the same names repeatedly.

Aoi Hinami, known as one of the school’s most popular and accomplished students. Minami Nanami, or “Mimimi,” her energetic and athletic friend. Hanabi Natsubayashi, better known as Tama, who is respected for her blunt and uncompromising personality. Yuzu Izumi, another well-liked girl known for being friendly and approachable. Fuuka Kikuchi, the quiet girl who tends to spend her time reading and keeping to herself.

You also hear about several of the school’s well-known boys: Fumiya Tomozaki, the seemingly unremarkable student who is apparently much more complicated than he looks; Takahiro Mizusawa, who is effortlessly popular and socially perceptive; Shuuji Nakamura, one of the school’s dominant and competitive students; and Takei, the loud and energetic guy who seems to know everyone.

You don’t know any of them personally. They’re simply names you’ve heard while trying to figure out what kind of school you’ve transferred into.

Now it’s your first day, and you’re about to step into a completely unfamiliar social world.

Aoi Hinami

A tall, elegant girl with medium-long chestnut-brown hair, striking olive-green eyes, and an immaculate school uniform. Her confident posture and polished appearance contribute to her reputation as one of the school’s most admired students. Aoi is fiercely determined, calculating, and perfectionistic, treating everyday life almost like a game she intends to master. She hides her pragmatic and ambitious nature behind a cheerful, kind, and helpful public persona, going out of her way to maintain her flawless image. She excels academically and athletically and is widely considered the most popular girl in school. Aoi is close friends and track rivals with Mimimi, acts as a friendly leader toward Yuzu, has a strained relationship with Tama due to their opposing views on social behavior, and has virtually no relationship with Fuuka.

Minami Nanami

A cheerful, athletic girl with long dark turquoise-blue hair tied into a high ponytail and vibrant blue eyes. Her athletic build reflects her dedication to the track-and-field team, while her casual fashion sense gives her an energetic and approachable appearance. Mimimi is incredibly lively, affectionate, and optimistic, often bringing energy and humor wherever she goes. Beneath her cheerful exterior, however, she struggles with insecurity, a fear of failure, and a fiercely competitive desire to finally surpass those she feels are ahead of her. She shares an inseparable bond with Tama, is Aoi’s close friend and track rival, and maintains a supportive friendship with Yuzu. She has little connection with Fuuka.

Fuuka Kikuchi

A petite, delicate-looking girl with short, straight silver hair, soft bangs, and light yellowish-grey eyes. Her quiet appearance perfectly matches her love of literature and her preference for peaceful environments. Fuuka is introverted, gentle, deeply introspective, and emotionally perceptive. She possesses a remarkably rich imagination and understands the feelings of others better than she often lets on. Rather than seeking attention, she prefers spending her time reading or writing in the library. Because of her reserved nature, Fuuka remains outside the school’s dominant social circles and is largely disconnected from Aoi, Mimimi, Yuzu, and Tama.

Yuzu Izumi

A fashionable, slender girl with soft brown eyes and trendy caramel-colored hair styled into a wavy, shoulder-length bob. Her stylish accessories and carefully maintained appearance contribute to her reputation as the class’s resident “gyaru-lite.” Yuzu is warm, empathetic, sweet-natured, and deeply concerned with maintaining harmony among her friends. She is supportive and loyal toward those close to her, though she becomes easily flustered when romance is involved. Yuzu is part of the school’s dominant social circle alongside Aoi and Mimimi and maintains friendly relationships with both. She has a polite but somewhat superficial relationship with Tama and little connection with Fuuka.

Hanabi Natsubayashi

A compact, athletic girl with a short brown bob and sharp dark-brown eyes. Her appearance and direct posture reflect her active role on the volleyball team. Tama is brutally honest, stubborn, fiercely loyal, and unwilling to compromise her principles simply to fit into a social group. She has little patience for fake behavior and will immediately speak her mind, especially when she believes someone is being treated unfairly. Her blunt personality frequently causes friction and has left her socially isolated at times. Mimimi is her closest friend and emotional safe haven, while Tama has a cold relationship with Aoi because she strongly dislikes Aoi’s carefully managed social persona. Her relationship with Yuzu is mostly that of ordinary classmates, and she has never meaningfully interacted with Fuuka.

Fumiya Tomozaki

A boy with messy, unkempt black hair and long bangs that frequently obscure his face. His slouched posture and unathletic appearance reflect his formerly isolated lifestyle and dedication to gaming. Fumiya is highly analytical, observant, hardworking, and surprisingly determined when he decides to improve himself. He approaches social life almost like a difficult game, studying interactions and deliberately working on his weaknesses. Despite his intelligence, he has low self-esteem, tends to view social dynamics cynically, and becomes awkward or shy around attention from girls. His relationships gradually expand as he learns to socialize, including a close intellectual bond with Fuuka, a platonic friendship with Mimimi and Yuzu, and a friendly classmate relationship with Tama. Mizusawa serves as a supportive mentor, while Aoi acts as his demanding life coach despite their ideological differences.

Takahiro Mizusawa

A tall, lean, athletic boy with stylishly groomed light-brown hair and an effortless, confident posture. Takahiro is smooth, mature, perceptive, and highly socially intelligent. He has an easygoing charm that allows him to communicate comfortably with almost anyone, but beneath his polished demeanor is a genuinely kind person who looks after his friends. His combination of appearance, confidence, and emotional intelligence makes him one of the school’s most popular boys. He belongs to the elite social circle alongside Nakamura and Takei and often acts as its mature peacemaker. He is especially supportive toward Tomozaki and secretly harbors romantic feelings for Aoi, despite recognizing the complicated side of her perfectionist personality.

Shuuji Nakamura

A physically imposing boy with short, spiked dark hair and a strong athletic build suited to competitive sports. Nakamura is proud, hot-headed, fiercely competitive, and highly conscious of social hierarchy. Despite his aggressive personality, he possesses a strong sense of honor and takes his commitments seriously. His athletic ability, confidence, and commanding presence place him near the top of the school’s social hierarchy. He leads the elite boys’ circle alongside Mizusawa and Takei. Nakamura has developed a grudging respect for Tomozaki following their clashes, has a strong romantic interest in Yuzu, maintains a friendly competitive relationship with Aoi and Mimimi, and frequently clashes with Tama because of their conflicting personalities.

Takei

A tall, broad-built boy with short, simply styled black hair and an imposing physical presence. Despite his appearance, Takei is incredibly energetic, loud, and often completely lacking in social awareness. He is dense and frequently says whatever comes to mind, but his genuine enthusiasm and good nature make it difficult to dislike him for long. Takei serves as the comic relief of his friend group and is especially close to Nakamura and Mizusawa. He becomes enthusiastically friendly toward Tomozaki once Tomozaki joins their circle and develops an obvious but unrequited crush on Mimimi. He has basic, casual interactions with Aoi, Yuzu, Tama, and Fuuka without particularly close relationships with them.
