Background

After Donald Trump's election as the 45th President of the United States in 2016, political polarization continued to grow exponentially. By 2020, electoral gridlock was endemic to Congress, and tensions over a wide range of issues had reached boiling point. While the economy under the Trump administration had been growing, the COVID-19 Pandemic hitting the US and the Oil Crisis caused by the Saudi Arabian Civil War would result in massive unemployment and economic turmoil.

Social tensions continued to rise after police brutality resulted in the killing of an African-American citizen named Quinton Evans in Richmond, Virginia. His death sparked nationwide protests and riots against the government by a group called "The Movement." This combination of social and economic issues caused extremist groups on both ends of the political spectrum to gain supporters, as disillusioned citizens sought a radical alternative to the establishment.

Power Struggle

As the 2020 election approached, it became very clear that the transition of power was guaranteed to be messy, regardless of the victor. After the winner was announced, accusations of rigged elections and unfaithful electoral colleges were quickly thrown around, and both sides claimed the other had stolen the election.

Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden were sworn in as President of the United States, gathering support in their respective strongholds: Denver for Trump and Washington D.C. for Biden. This led to a state of national schizophrenia, with two governments issuing orders simultaneously.

In time, the head counting stopped and the schemes undertaken by the two sides became clear to each other and the country, causing the U.S. to collapse into anarchy.

Start of the Civil War

When the US collapses, there is a brief period of peace before war begins. Factions start at war with immediate neighbours inside their state, except the Worldwide effects are also felt: The global economy collapses with the "Death of Wall Street" event, bringing a worldwide economic crisis. Justin Trudeau invokes the Emergency Powers Act and Canada leaves NATO. Inside the alliance, Germany, France and the UK compete for leadership. With NATO paralyzed Serbia invades Kosovo, and if they are successful they may then invade the rest of the Balkans to reform Yugoslavia if under the socialists. Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia will also leave NATO. China begins preparations to invade Taiwan while Japan and Australia form the Pacific Defense Treaty Organization to defend them with the US 7th Fleet absorbed as well. Finally, Russia will take advantage of the American collapse by invading Central Asia and the Caucasus and preparing for the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and Eastern Europe, starting the First European War.

Major Factions:

American Constitutional Government:

Led by Donald Trump and the Republican Party, the American Constitutional Government controls most of the Midwest and the Great Plains with Denver, Colorado as its capital.

Trump politically can stick with right-wing populism through the Populists, can ally with the Libertarians, or become more authoritarian by allying with the Patriots. Regardless of which the American Constitutional Government chooses if they win, it will restore the United States of America and then annex the United States Naval Command.

Union of America:

Led by Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, the Union of America controls most of the Mid-Atlantic, the Upper South, Ohio, and Indiana with Washington D.C. as its capital.

Biden has the ability to ally with the Liberal or Progressive wings of the Democratic Party or align himself with the anti-Trump Conservative faction of the Republican Party. Biden is also able to blow the whistle on increasing corporate influence, or ally with the Innovationists, allowing them to increase corporate influence. This may have dire consequences...

If the Union of America wins, it will restore the United States of America and annex the United States Naval Command.

American People's Liberation Army:

A coalition of far-left revolutionary socialist movements, the American People's Liberation Army is based in parts of California with San Francisco as it's capital and is initially led by Michael Prysner. They are committed to bringing the revolution to America through force and oppose both of the federal governments.

A power struggle between the Jacobins, the Octoberists, the Anarchists, and the Neosocialists will determine how the revolution will proceed in America. If the APLA wins, the United States Naval Command will refuse to join the newly-reunified state, forcing them to conquer the latter through military means.

Patriot Front:

The Patriot Front is a far-right movement seeking to create an ultranationalist regime in America led by Thomas Rousseau. They disguise their ideals through traditional patriotic imagery and wording to attract new followers and are opposed to both the Denver and Washington governments. They start off controlling the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island, with Hartford as it's capital.

The Patriot Front is divided between the Blueshirts, the Jacksonians, the Hamiltonians, the National Justice Party/Nationalist Socialist Club-131, and elements of the Republican Party. Whoever comes out on top will shape the Patriot Front's vision of America with the United States Naval Command as the only obstacle left.

Atomwaffen Division:

The Atomwaffen Division is an international neo- terrorist network inspired by the teachings of James Mason, a former American Party member and author of Siege who advocated for mass killings, assassinations, and destabilization of society in order to create a -esque white ethnostate in North America through genocide. They are even willing to cause a nuclear apocalypse in order to fulfill such a mad goal. They control a chunk of southern Florida with Fort Myers as it's capital and Brandon Russell as their current leader.

Atomwaffen's ranks consist of Accelerationists, Christians, and Satanists who squabble over certain details of how Mason's vision should be achieved. But the end result is the same in the unlikely outcome where they somehow unify America: The nuclear genocide of all non-Whites and Jews around the world. Unsurprisingly, the United States Naval Command will oppose them.

Black Liberation Army

The Black Liberation Army is a warlord state that appears at the beginning of the Second American Civil War. Led originally by John "Jay" Johnson and the Not Fucking Around Coalition, they are a black nationalist and separatist group that seeks to detach from the United States. They occupy the cities of Jackson, Montgomery, and their capital Birmingham.

Upon conquering Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana and Georgia, they will become the Republic of New Afrika. They can also invade Texas.

The Sons of Liberty is a warlord state that appears at the beginning of the Second American Civil War. They are one of the two main factions in the Association of the Freed alongside the Green Mountain Anarchist Collective.

The League of the South is a far-right Southern nationalist organization founded in 1994 in Alabama, initially presenting itself as a cultural and historical advocacy group. Over time, it evolved into a secessionist and white nationalist movement, advocating for the creation of an independent Southern republic based on what it calls “traditional Christian values” and “Anglo-Celtic heritage.”

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, the group became increasingly radicalized, distancing itself from mainstream conservative circles and aligning more closely with the alt-right and neo-Confederate movements. It has been involved in numerous protests and demonstrations, often in opposition to the removal of Confederate monuments and symbols.
