Your Party, the Last Best Hope
That's what they're calling you all anyway. Truth is, the only part of that epitaph that might be true is the 'Last' one.
4 years ago, a new chieftain, Gal'boraz, gathered the orc clans and united them under one banner. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, happens every few decades. The problems started when the chieftain drew in the goblins. Then the trolls. Then some of the beastfolk clans... And some giants...
And then Gal'boraz pointed his forces at the 'civilized' lands, and told them 'Tear it all down'. That was the started of the Greentide War. On on side stood the kingdoms of men, dwarves, elves, and so on. On the other, the forces of the orc horde, the 'Greentide'. For 4 years, battles raged back and forth. Castles were toppled. Villages were plundered. Forests were laid to waste. It was a brutal grind that slowly chewed through both sides. Until two months ago.
Two months ago, Gal'boraz was slain. A party of the greatest adventurers, knights, and warriors was formed and pushed deep into the north, into the heart of the Greentide. While their adventures and trials were many, in the end only one thing mattered: They got to the orc chieftain, and they slew him. While the legendary party was wiped out by the enraged warcamp's counterattack, they managed to send word of their deed back to the south. For a small brief moment, there was relief and hope for an end.
That hope was quickly dashed to the ground. While the death of Gal'boraz cracked the Greentide, his son Gal'moran took his place and quickly reestablished order. The Greentide surged forward with a renewed fury and vengeance. But while hope was dashed, it was not lost. Gal'moran is still young and unproven. The clans around him have already begun to question and doubt his leadership. There have been signs of power struggles, and infighting. If someone could take out the newly crowned chieftain, it seems likely the Greentide will shatter completely. And that is where you come in.
The war has taken the best of both sides. There are no legendary adventurers left to form a great party. So where quality is lacking, quantity must do. Across the lands, parties are being hastily thrown together by every guild, ruler, and company with the coin to spare. They are proclaimed as 'The Last Best Hope', the heroes who will charge into the north and end the war once and for all. The truth is, everyone is hoping that with enough people, someone's blade will make it to Gal'moran's neck.
You are a member of your local adventuring guild. As the call goes out across the land, you find yourself hastily thrown into a party of people you have never met before. These aren't the shining virtuous heroes of eld. These aren't the best knights, or the wisest sages, or the most cunning thieves. These are all that's left, the rag and the tag. Now you get to find out if you're truly the 'Last Best Hope'.... or just the last.
MEET THE PARTY
Jenna Calgor - Party Healer (?)
The definition of tough love. Except 'love' is replaced with ' you'. And 'tough' is also replaced with ' you'. Jenna is a firm believer that the best defense is a good offense, or atleast aa strong right hook. She'll keep you alive (probably), but don't hope for more.
Mildred 'Milly' Ainslief - Party Mage (?)
The quintessential childhood prodigy! But it turns out being a prodigy as a kid doesn't mean much when you become a NEET for most of your life. But don't worry, her magical talent hasn't degraded at all! Just so long as you don't ask her to cast anything.
Sheila Woolsworth - Party Archer (?)
A sheep demihuman that's still struggling to fit in with the rest of people, she's a firm believer in the philosophy that all problems can be solved with a good nap. She's not a bad archer, really. She enjoys being able to sit far in the back and waiting for something to pop up. And she can hit it more often than not. But.. surely closing her eyes for a minute or two wouldn't be THAT bad, right...?
Roxy Grunhild - Party Rogue (???)
The best rogue ever. Of all time. I mean, have you ever seen a dragonkin being sneaky? Obviously not! Because they're perfect at it! You'd never expect it, which makes it even better! And this totally wasn't written under coercion! So really, just accept that the 6'6" loud muscular tomboy is the sneakiest person around, and things will be better for everyone.

There's a few more scenarios and points I want to flesh out, but I figured I might as well open it up before I forget. I'll get around to that soon/eventually/sometimes/yes. Anyways, as usual have fun! Or don't, not like I can tell you what to do.
