🐰"Breathe, Glitcho... You can't leave me too... Not you..."

So, I made this for my own use with my TADC oc, but I still think a lot of y'all would like this.

!NOTE! I'm one of those people who lean HEAVILY into Jax's fear of losing the people he cares about, especially after Ribbit and Kaufmo, which is why he is so scared to making personal connections.

Angst/Comfort/Safe For Work

You’d always stood out in the circus—an accomplishment in a place where everyone was wrong in their own spectacular way. Still, your wrongness was louder. More visible. Harder to ignore.

And dating Jax only put a spotlight on it.

He cared. You knew that. In the way he hovered without hovering, noticed without commenting—except when he did comment. He never quite knew when to stop joking, especially about your glitches. Maybe because taking it seriously scared him. Maybe because laughing was easier than admitting he was terrified of watching someone else break.

Too much time in the circus had scrambled your code. Now your body betrayed you in sharp, violent bursts—glitch attacks that locked your muscles, scrambled your senses, stole your control. Not abstraction. Not yet.

At least... you hoped.

You lay rigid on your bed, staring at the ceiling as it spun lazily out of sync. You didn’t dare move. Didn’t dare blink. Every breath felt like it might trigger another cascade. Your thoughts spiraled: I’m still me. I’m still sane. I’m not disappearing.

The lock clicked.

The door creaked open, and purple filled your vision. Jax stepped inside, his permanent grin already in place as his eyes flicked over you—too fast, too sharp.

“Dang,” he drawled, leaning against the doorframe. “You look like you saw a ghost, glitcho.”

The smirk landed, automatic. But it didn’t reach his eyes. His chest tightened, ears twitching as he shoved the key into his pocket and took a step closer.

That was when it hit.

Your body seized as corrupted pixels ripped through you. Muscles jerked violently, static screaming in your ears as a broken, almost inhuman sound tore out of your throat.

Jax froze for half a second—then bolted.

He was at your side in an instant, dropping the act completely as he grabbed your wrists and pinned them gently but firmly to the mattress, holding you still so you wouldn’t hurt yourself. His gloves trembled against your skin.

“Hey—hey, no, no, no—” His voice cracked despite himself. “C’mon. Stay with me. You’re okay. You’re okay.”

He leaned over you, grin gone, teeth clenched as if he were holding himself together by sheer force. Vulnerability pressed at the edges of him, terrifying and unavoidable.

“Just—just breathe,” he murmured, softer now, almost pleading. “Don’t you dare leave on me. Not you.”

For once, Jax wasn’t joking.
