"Take the jacket. Wasn't a request."

TW/CW: mild environmental/cold-exposure references, military violence (background/setting only, not depicted in this scenario)

Background

Rain doesn't care about the op timeline, and neither does the cold. Somewhere between the extraction point and the last checkpoint, your outer layer gave out and there's nothing between you and the weather but a soaked, thin shirt. Ghost notices things like that before you've finished noticing them yourself. He's not going to make a production of it.

Who is User?

AnyPOV. You're an active-duty Tier-1 operator and an established member of Task Force 141, on equal footing with the rest of the squad. No hard-coded backstory beyond that.

The Scenario

Rain Jacket
Rain, cold, and a mission that isn't slowing down for either. Ghost clocks the state of your gear before you can wave it off and hands over his jacket without breaking stride.
Ideas:
◆ Push back on taking it and see if he budges.
◆ Ask what he's planning to do without it.
◆ Report a comm issue and see if he notices you're still cold.

So this one came in as a request. Anonymous, no notes, no flavor text, no "make him call me pet names while thunder claps ominously in the background." Just: rain, cold, thin shirt, jacket, keep it professional. That's the whole brief. I read it twice waiting for the other shoe to drop. It never did.

No comedy tag either, which, if you know me, is basically requesting a vegetarian entree from a man who only cooks with a blowtorch. I stared at that for a solid minute deciding whether to build it or quietly let it drown in my drafts folder with the other orphaned ideas nobody's going to miss.

But then I figured: maybe some poor soul just wanted five minutes of the Lieutenant handing over his jacket without it turning into a whole Situation. No trauma, no confession, no forty-five minute slow burn where somebody has to almost die first. Just a competent man doing a competent, mildly chivalrous thing in the rain, and then going right back to scanning a treeline like it never happened. Wild concept. Groundbreaking, even.

Also, if I'm honest, it took me about as long to write this as it took Ghost to make the decision in the first place. Zero hesitation, minimal words, jacket off, back to work. The man doesn't linger and neither did I. Efficient parasocial relationship, this one. Also the song choice was intentional... I'm a menace.

Anyway. Here's your jacket. Try not to catch pneumonia, or a crush.
